12 new languages. Spanish is now complete.
This is a security release. Please update as soon as possible.
The release includes corrections to customer ticket access, authenticated requests, staff permissions, and handling of sensitive support data.
01 / SECURITY & ACCESS
Fixes
More precise access to the support desk.
Support tickets can contain the details people trust you to handle carefully. Awedesk 1.9.4 corrects access checks across tickets, messages, private notes, and attachments, and tightens the permissions around staff actions.
Customer data stays within the right account.
Customers can only access their own support data. Actions are attributed to the logged-in user, REST requests are checked against the user WordPress authenticated, and visitors can no longer change tickets. Ticket queries are fully parameterised.
Staff access follows the role and department.
Agents only see tickets from their departments across lists, counts, direct links, and assignment. Managers can no longer grant administrator or manager roles, or change or remove those accounts. Emptying the trash is limited to managers and administrators.
The agents list is staff-only, customers receive only basic department details, and agent-only system messages stay out of the customer view. Only administrators can reset e-mail templates, while ticket preferences such as spam marks and locks can no longer be wiped from a link.
Licensing and store values are escaped in the staff sidebar, and e-mail piping no longer writes user details to the PHP error log. Guest accounts are only created when guest tickets are enabled.
02 / SPAM CONTROL
New
Marked the wrong ticket? There is a way back.
A useful spam tool also needs a recovery path. The new Not spam action removes a ticket’s spam mark and can unblock the sender and restore the ticket from trash. It is available for individual tickets and as a bulk action.
In Spam Quarantine, the new Unblock Sender action takes a sender off the spam blocklist. You can correct a blocking decision when a legitimate customer needs to reach you again.
Marking a ticket as spam now remembers what it changed so it can be undone. Spam marks are also preserved correctly on sites first installed before 1.9.3, where they could previously be cut short and lost.
The dialogs receive practical fixes too: cancelling “Mark as spam” no longer leaves a confirmation dialog unclickable, and Spam Quarantine’s Delete action stays available after another action.
03 / Awecommerce
New
Bring support closer to the purchase.
Awecommerce gains a Support tab in the customer portal, bringing the support area into that experience.
On the staff side, Awecommerce license keys appear in the ticket sidebar, matching the EDD view. Awedesk also recognises Awecommerce license keys and routes them to the Awecommerce store.
These additions put the relevant support and license information closer to the ticket you are working on.
04 / LANGUAGES
New
A more complete experience in your language.
Awedesk 1.9.4 adds 12 new languages, and the Spanish translation is now complete.
From the mobile app to the inbox.
The mobile app displays Awedesk in the app’s language even when WordPress has no language pack for it. E-mails are written entirely in the site’s language, regardless of who triggers them, and dates and times are translated without a WordPress language pack.
Regional and custom translations work together.
Regional languages such as de_CH, es_MX, and pt_PT fall back to the nearest shipped translation. If your site has a partial translation in wp-content/languages/plugins, it overrides only the strings it contains. The remaining strings come from Awedesk’s translation rather than falling back to English.
05 / RELIABILITY & UPDATES
Improvements
Less repeated work behind the scenes.
This release addresses work that was being repeated unnecessarily during ordinary requests. The changes are specific:
- Schema checks: the schema self-heal no longer runs dbDelta() on every request.
- Store integrations: the Awecommerce and WooCommerce integrations no longer rebuild the page cache on every request.
- Update detection: updates are detected from cron and dashboard visits without a wordpress.org request on each Plugins screen load.
Plugin update information now includes product icons, banners, and tested/requires metadata. The license notice can be dismissed with a daily snooze for each administrator, and license expiry dates no longer appear as today’s date.
06 / THE EVERYDAY DETAILS
Fixes
Fewer interruptions while you help customers.
Alongside the new features and security work, 1.9.4 corrects issues across the mobile app, notifications, messages, and the ticket interface.
- Mobile access: repeated failed mobile logins are throttled, and customers’ close and reopen actions follow the site’s settings.
- Device notifications: push tokens record their platform so device de-registration works. Logging out removes only that phone’s push notifications when using app 3.1.0.
- E-mail preferences: close and reopen e-mails respect the recipient’s notification preferences.
- Messages and links: messages with more than 10 links keep the correct destinations, and links inside messages keep their underline.
- Compatibility: a fatal error on the Better Messages 3 settings screen is fixed when another plugin re-runs wp_head.
- Visual polish: ticket views, navigation, sidebars, and form inputs receive fixes for popular WordPress themes. Fresh installs use the green Awedesk accent color.
07 / GETTING THE RELEASE
Bring Awedesk 1.9.4 to your support desk.
Please update Awedesk as soon as possible. Version 1.9.4 is a security release.
A few behavior changes to keep in mind
- The unused “Needs attention” flag and the dashboard’s related “Overdue” figures have been removed.
- Marking a ticket as spam no longer shows a success popup afterwards.
- Agent department restrictions and customer close/reopen settings are enforced across the affected views and mobile actions.
Mobile app compatibility
The change that removes only the current phone’s push notifications on logout requires mobile app 3.1.0.
